- Completely Browser-Based Application - Sitefinity is a completely browser-based application, which does not require downloads or installation of plug-ins, ActiveX controls, or Flash players. The content management capabilities of the application can be accessed from any computer with a supported browser.
- 100% WYSIWYG In-Context Site Management Environment - Sitefinity is developed to transfer the process of web-site creation and content management entirely to the web. There are no preview buttons - your workspace is your staged web-site, so watch it grow. Thanks to the award-wining r.a.d.designer component you will not have to select pages and content blocks from long lists and complex treeviews, but can rather use the site's own navigation system to browse and manage the information in its true context.
- Naturally Intuitive Word®-like Interface - Sitefinity enables even non-technical business users to author and manage HTML content as easily as writing a document. Using the familiar Word-like interface of the leading WYSIWYG content editor for ASP.NET ( r.a.d.editor), authors can format text, build tables, create hyperlinks, insert images, Flash, documents, etc.
- Copy/Paste Content from Word® - The WYSIWYG content editor makes pasting content from Word® quite easy with four options for stripping the Word-specific tags, which are not suitable for the web: strip Word tags on paste, strip Word tags after paste, paste plain text, or forced paste plain text (for every paste).
- Can Accomodate Any Web-Site Design - Sitefinity utilizes reusable layout templates, which expedite the creation of pages and ensure design consistency. Those layout templates contain standard nested HTML tables and can accommodate any web-site design. Using the visual Layout Editor web-designers and administrators can build layout templates, and specify default content for cells which don't change from page to page, like headers with logo, navigation controls, etc. Then when you build individual pages, the content of these cells will be inherited from the layouts, so that you only need to place the page-specific content (e.g. "About us" text). Moreover, thanks to the layout templates mechanism, you can tweak groups of pages at once by simply modifying their common layout template.
- Easily Set-Up New Sites Using a 5-Step Wizard - New web-sites can be easily set up even by non-technical user thanks to the interactive 5-step Wizard. It allows you to specify the site basics like database type, default layouts, design theme, and default pages (if any).
- Easily Switch Between the Staged and Live Copy of the Site - The unobtrusive systembar of Sitefinity allows you to easily switch between the control panel, the staged copy and the live copy of the site. The staged copy ("Edit Site" mode) contains the work in progress, which has not been approved/published yet. The live copy ("Live Site" mode), on the other hand, displays the published copy, which is what the general site visitors see.
